Landlords owed rent by a former tenant who has already moved out
When to use it
When a tenant has vacated but still owes rent. Must file within 1 year of the tenant moving out.
What happens next
The LTB can order the former tenant to pay the amount owed. Filing fee: $186 (online) paid to the LTB.
Note: The LTB charges a separate government filing fee ($186 online / $201 by mail), paid directly to the LTB when you file.
Common mistakes
- ✗Missing the 1-year deadline — after that you lose your LTB remedy
